[Event] The launch of Bio-Oil’s Largest Bottle 200ml

I am proud to say during my pregnancy 1.5 years ago, I did not suffer from a single sign of stretch mark on my tummy despite there were times my tummy felt itchy and I scratched on it. So what’s the secret to stretch-mark free tummy during pregnancy?

Bio-Oil was my main skincare.

Previously I reviewed (refer to blogpost) how my scar was lightened from using Bio-Oil. That convinced me quite abit, and so I used it again during my pregnancy. I applied it once a night before sleep. That’s all it took. No skin allergy. No discomfort. Bio-Oil had reduced the risk of forming stretch marks on my tummy! Yay! My holy grail skincare for pregnancy!love58

I truly appreciate how this small bottle of skincare showed its effectiveness on me.

And the good news is, Bio-Oil is now available in a larger sized bottle, 200ml!

Let me recap on the key ingredients in Bio-Oil.

Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (Calendula Oil)
Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (Lavender Oil)
Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (Rosemary Oil)
Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil (Chamomile Oil)
Mineral Oil
Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

You’ll probably think, “Huh? so many types of oil, the texture is sure going to be super oily and uncomfortable!”.

You’re wrong. One of the plus points from Bio-Oil is, it makes the skin soft and smooth instead of feeling greasy all over.

Bio-Oil can be used on baby skin, like during a massage for the new born. One of the main agenda behind the product is to create the special bonding between the parent and child, and not just a skincare product. Any mother who has used the product and learned about its effectiveness, will sure to share with the little ones at home.

Anyway, when I was at the event introduction launch of the 200ml bottle, I also got my chance to diy a skincare scrub using Bio-Oil with some natural ingredients which are easily found at home or the supermarkets.

Natural Scrub (for face and body) Recipe and Simple Steps

2 table spoons of Manuka Honey.
2 teaspoons of Himalayan Salt (need to self-grind into finer salt).

2 drops of Lemon Essential Oil or 4 squeezes from Fresh Lemon Wedges.
10 drops of Bio-Oil.

Mix it.

And Voila! We’re done!

Pour everything into a airtight jar, you can easily get one from our local  Daiso or Ikea.

Storage is easy, keep the jar in a fridge for months and you can use it as and when you need it.

I tried my diy-ed Bio-Oil scrub on my dry hand. Gave the skin a light scrub, rinsed it off, and immediately I saw good results!

My wrinkled hand looked so much smoother and fairer than before the scrub.

wub

It was an awesome evening with Bio-Oil. I’m already thinking to DIY this scrub for my girlfriends for our next special occasion.

Because the event was held at Cookyn Inc, bloggers and guests also had the chance to learn cooking salmon in the simplest and healthiest way.

I had roughly jotted down the ingredients and steps, going to try it next week when Hazel is in school. (That’s when I’m free, heh!)

Shall share the recipe and steps in a separate blogpost.

Thanks Bio-Oil, you have been such a terrific product when I was pregnant and I can’t stop sharing my experience with friends.

Bio-Oil will be launching its largest sized bottle this coming May 2015.

Achieving Good Wellness System With iBeauty Medispa

Body slimming, we all know what it’s all about. To many of us, it’s a process of controlled dieting with less carb, less fried food, less oil, more exercise, more sleep, sufficient intake of fruits and water, and the list goes on. Sounds easy but it’s forever hard to achieve and/or maintain.

Looking for an easy way out to achieve some weight loss?

iBeauty Medispa Logo

iBeauty Medispa, having 30 years of experience in bringing beauty and wellness to their customers, has the easiest way to body slimming which I’ve known, and tried. And it’s not just targeting on body slimming, it improves blood circulation, body metabolism and digestive system

They guarantee a 5kg fat loss upon signing a full package of 15 sessions. It’s pretty obvious that there’s no way to lose significant result in just one session. Even if there is, it’s only a temporary one, be it on the face or body. So signing up a package to have a guaranteed 5kg fat loss is quite a good deal, isn’t it?

Metabolite Wellness Treatment is a natural and non-invasive treatment which redefine my body wellness.

I’m still on breastfeeding on my coming to 10-months-old little one, so I’m definitely not taking any external medication or invasive body treatment that may affect my breastmilk quality.

And when I was invited to try out Metabolite Wellness Treatment, I realized it’s suitable for those who are looking at post-natal massage too. Though I’m outside the post-natal treatment window frame, no harm doing it again after 6 months, perhaps it may just help to get rid of any water retention in my body, I thought.

So I made my way down to their Ang Mo Kio outlet for my 30-minute Metabolite Wellness Treatment.

I met Hazel, the daughter of the lady boss, Mary of iBeauty Medispa, for a quick consultation on my health condition like percentage of body fats, BMI etc. Based on measurement, I was in a healthy range and there’s no need for me to lose any fat, despite I’m still 5 Kg away from my prepregnancy weight, and have even upsized to size M, cannot fit into 80% of my clothes, and all of my jeans!

My main concern was my bulging tummy and thicker thighs, and so my therapist performed more pressing and kneading movements on my tummy and thighs during my treatment.

No machine was involved. Only their special cream was used during the pressing and kneading steps.

During the treatment

My whole body went through a series of massaging and kneading to unblock and stimulate the 106 meridian points on the body.

This 30-minute Metabolite Wellness Treatment helps to increase basal metabolism and blood circulation.

The massaging and kneading help to minimize fat cells size and improves mobility of fat cells being drained through the lymphatic system.

My therapy was very nice enough to ask me if I was able to withstand the strength she used on me. I think that’s good customer service, and sort of assured me that I was well-taken care of.

Metabolite Wellness Image

For my back, cupping was used on me. It’s my first time I was worried of the pain and heat. Surprisingly, it’s not as scary as I thought.

Cupping wasn’t very painful as my therapy was swift and accurate. It was only towards the end of the last few cupping that I felt the heat was too hot on me and also a little pain when the “cupping moves” along my back. But all’s bearable and it was done very fast.

After the treatment

I was told by Hazel that my body will be having cell activity for the next 24 hours after my treatment. Cell activity like a silent metabolic activity. I find this true and effective on me. My digestive system seems to be doing well for the next two days.

The treatment is also said to be reduce craving for starchy and high carb food. I didn’t notice any difference in myself, but I know after my treatment, for the rest of the day, I only had light dinner despite skipping my lunch.

I didn’t feel myself becoming less heavier, neither did I saw my tummy flattened. Bear in my mind, this was only my first and one session.

To really see good results, one has to go through a consecutive sessions like 3 times a week, and follow their simple customized diet menu which can be easily prepared.

Body wellness covers improvement in blood circulation, good sleeping habit, regular healthy meals. All these lead to reduction in unwanted fats and weight issue. Finally lesser risk of getting hypertension, high blood pressure, high cholesterol etc.

So, being fat doesn’t mean eating less and exercising are the solutions. Getting the right method in improving blood circulation and treatment to our body can also help in a way.

Trial and Package

The Metabolism Wellness Treatment is available at iBeauty Medispa.

First Trial is available at S$100 (Usual Price S$250) for a 30-minute full treatment.

Guaranteed 5 Kg fat loss upon signing of full package of 15 sessions at S$2000.

#Review# Bio-Oil, deals with scars, stretch marks, uneven skintone, ageing skin, dehyrated skin.

Bio-Oil, is basically a bottle of skincare oil formulated to use for many purposes. It consists of natural plant oils and vitamins to promote skin repair and to maintain the good skin conditions.

Key ingredients inside Bio-Oil are, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Calendula Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosemarry Oil, Chamomile Oil.

PurCellin Oil™, Bio-Oil’s breakthrough ingredient, is also added to the mixture of plant oils and vitamins. PurCellin Oil™ is like the carrier oil for Bio-Oil’s other key ingredients. It helps to ensure Bio-Oil is efficiently and fast enough for the active ingredients to be absorbed into the skin so without leaving a sticky finish on the skin.

Bio-Oil can be used on many parts on the body, legs, chest, stomach, hands & nails, neck, forehead, eyes area, cheeks, chin, mouth and nose!

However it is not to be applied on broken, wounded skin. Do not treat it like a magic potion for scars as it is more suitable to heal new scars instead of old scars. I do not pin much hope on old scars especially they are already so old, it’s really hard to get rid of them by just using Bio-Oil.

It’s basically used for scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin, dehydrated skin.

I have been using it for 2 months and here’s the result that I am sharing. Result varies for every individual ya, what appears to be effective on me within 2 months doesn’t mean it will do the same for you. Patience and regular use will give you good results for sure.

I actually tried to apply on a fresh scar on my ankle. It was really a hassle for me to use it regularly, twice a day for weeks. Took a few drops of Bio-Oil and massage in circular motion (for quite a few minutes) until it is fully absorbed into my skin. Oh yah, apply it on clean skin!

Before

After

After 2 months of application (there are days that I have forgotten to apply), my fresh car has been slightly lightened!!

For the pregnant ladies, it is suitable for you as well! Infact, start using it on the first trimester, throughout the pregnancy and after-birth to minimize stretch marks, caesarean section scars, relief to itchiness.

Bio-Oil is available at Guardian, Unity, Watsons, selected pharmacies and departmental stores in SG.

After we were done with dry works, came to the last station, manicure/pedicure! Yay!

My hands were given a massage using Dirty Works You Soft Touch Hand Cream (S$8.90, 100ml). It contains moisturising Cocoa Butter and Jojoba Oil. My hands felt moisturized and soft! There was not a single bit of greasiness and infact, my hands felt silky smooth! I am son gonna stock up this hand cream once I finish my current ones!

After massaging the hands, my manicure session began!

There plenty of nail polish colours available under Exposed. Each 15ml bottle costs S$12.00, which seems reasonable, taking into the fact that the quality of the nail polishes are good.

I had a hard time deciding what I wanted until I thought of painting my nails black to match the Rock theme at the event. I also added silver french tip to give the nails some bling bling look!

Black Velvet x OMG!

Amazingly the nail polish was quite long lasting on my nails without any chip or crack!

#Review# Beauty Bistro’s Baby Foot Easy Pack

Exfoliation on the feet can be a little tiring to do, which is why I do it during pedicure session.

But now, I have found a better product for easy and convenient feet exfoliation.

Beauty Bistro’s Baby Foot Easy Pack, the winner of the Best Treatment for your Sole in the Clea Beauty Hall of Fame 2012, gives a gentle exfoliation to the feet and promises a soft and smooth feet skin.

It’s basically a pair of 3D plastic socks to be worn over the feet for 2 hours, wait for another 2 to 7 days for the peeling process to end before seeing the result.

I must confess despite countless pedicure sessions, the dead skin cells on my soles are still “growing”. Reason is because of my long hours of wearing heels that have caused pressure to the soles.

The skin on the soles are thicker than most areas of the body, dead skin cells can easily be accumulated on thick skin. Exfoliation is necessary to get rid of these dead skin cells.

Tried out Baby Foot Easy Pack a week ago, and here’s my review.

Warning! Following photos may look damn gross to you, please do not munch on any food while continue reading this blogpost!

You’ve been warned.

Opening up the package was messy-free, the plastic socks were sealed before usage. They contain the exfoliation ingredients. The principal ingredient of Baby Foot is Citric Acid, which is an organic acid used since ancient times. It penetrates into the layer of dead skin cells and works on the desmosomes between the skin layers, enabling easier peeling.

Getting ready to wear the 3D plastic socks,

6 pcs of stickers were provided in the pack, to tape the 3D plastic socks tightly to ensure the essence are soaking the feet.

“Masking” my feet in progress…

After the masking, I had my feet rinsed and dried.

I waited and waited, there’s no peeling for the next few days!

5 days later…

Finally first sign of peeling started on Day 05 since masking! The dead skin peels off by themselves because of the skin renewal cycle and friction caused by pressure.

Day 6…

More dead skin layers arose!

Day 8…

The appearance of my feet was damn grossed during the peeling process, I had to avoid wearing slippers going out. My feet were just too gross to be seen by the public!

I couldn’t help but tend to have “itchy fingers” to start peeling off the dead skin layers!

The dead skin layers fell everywhere I walked in the house! No pain on the skin during the peeling process, infact my feet and soles felt as per normal.

Day 10…

Most gross feet ever! Dead skin had risen all the way to the sides of my feet!

Day 14…

My soles were smooth and clean! Say hello to my soft and smooth baby-looking feet!

I was surprised that even the dead skin layers on my toes were removed too!

Beauty Bistro’s Baby Easy Foot Pack also contains 13 types of moisturizing ingredients which help to moisturize the skin as dead skin cells are peeled off.

Simple steps to use Baby Foot Easy Pack:

  1. After cleaning and dry the feet, place feet into the Easy Packs.
  2. Wear the Easy Packs for 2 hours to allow product to absorb.
  3. Remove the Easy Packs  and discard. Wash feet with soap and air-dry the feet.
  4. Clean any exposed surfaces immediately after use.
  5. The dead skin cells will start to peel naturally for about 7 days.
  6. Expect to see a softer and smoother skin than before!

Do not expect to see smooth skin immediately after soaking the product. It took me about 1-2 weeks for the dead skin cells to peel off. By right, I was supposed to let the dead skin peel off by itself, but sometimes I couldn’t wait and I started the peeling process by rubbing the foot very gently with a clean cloth or using the palm of my hand.

It’s not recommended to force the removal of the dead skin when peeling process starts as it may cause damage to the skin.

#Review# New Lactacyd Feminine Wash – White Intimate and Revitalize. What’s your preference?

Most ladies know about the importance of feminine hygiene care but how many of us are proactive in using feminine wash to give the intimate area an extra care?

I am not a fan of using female wash, will prefer female wipes because of the convenience to throw after use. But no harm to do an extra step in using feminine wash during shower right?

Ladies should start paying attention to female hygiene care. A couple of reasons why it’s important. SG’s hot weather may cause perspiration which result in darkened bikini area, something similar to underarm darkened skin. The type of clothing wear we have these days, tend to cause excessive friction to the skin, which may also cause skin darkening. Because of all these harsh factors, it’s important to start taking care of the skin at the intimate area.

Lactacyd Feminine Wash is launched with the idea of lightening the skin and keeping the intimate area fresh and moisturized.

Lactacyd White Intimate

Lactacyd has recently launched its first lightening intimate wash with skin lightening benefits and also the first of its kind to formulate the products with natural ingredients like Algowhite and Actipone-B which are all marine-based whitening agent. Both ingredients are to lighten the skin and inhibit production of melanin, reducing skin darkening.

I love the scent from White Intimate. It has this soothing scent which I know of from other moisturizing skincare. It contains milk-based moisturizing and revitalizing agent which provides moisture and keeping the intimate area fresh.

Also contains Lactic Acid, a natural soothing anti-itch agent for the skin.

Light texture which doesn’t create forming so as not to dry the skin. I apply a thumb-sized amount twice daily and rinse off with water during my shower.

pH level is 5.2, which I find it alright so far, no irritation at all. From what I know, the intimate area has a difference pH from normal body wash which can be too harsh to the skin. As a result, infection and itchiness may happen. So it’s recommended to use a feminine wash which has the right pH for the skin.

It promises visible skin lightening after using 4-12 weeks, I wonder if I can use it on my underarm area too…

Lactacyd Revitalize

For the ladies who are looking at moisturizing and firming, Lactacyd Revitalize maybe a good choice.

It is formulated with natural ingredients like Vitamin E (anti-oxidant), Collagen (firming, delay skin aging), Trehalose (deodorant, keeping skin fresh and moisturized)

Texture-wise and pH level are the same as White Intimate. It’s the scent that differs. It also has milk-based moisturizing and anti-itch agents in the ingredients.

Lactacyd mainly focuses on skin moisturizing and skin firming while White Intimate gives skin fairness. It’s all up to individual’s preference and lifestyle to decide which to pick.

Lactacyd is now having a giveaway at their facebook fan page for everyone. Redeem Lactacyd Trial Kit at : http://on.fb.me/Kmmcgb. The secret referral password for this redemption is my blog url, https://sassyd0ll.wordpress.com.

Faster go redeem ya! Get your friends to redeem too!

Lactacyd White Intimate (250ml) and Lactacyd Revitalize (250ml) is priced at SGD13.90 each, available at all leading pharmacies.

The Body Shop – Scents of the World

New fragrance collection which I have received from The Body Shop quite sometime ago in August. Scents of the World, is the new collection’s name. Its name simply tells me the new collection is made up of ingredients which are sourced from all over the world.

Scents of the World, is The Body Shop’s first ever collection that contains 100% organic essence and natural extracts from the plants.

There are a total of 5 sets of different scent (range) from flower extracts picked from 5 different places in this world:

  • Madagascan Vanilla Flower
  • Amazonian Wild Lily
  • Japanese Cherry Blossom
  • Indian Night Jasmine
  • Atlas Mountain Rose

Out of the 5 ranges, Madagascan Vanilla Flower is the only range that has one product, and that’s Madagascan Vanilla Flower Eau De Toilette.

This scent has been picked by mum who is in her late 50s. She describes to me how hot the weather has been around her and how the vanilla scent helps to calm her mood under the sunny sun whenever the wind blows against her. The only con is that the scent is not long-lasting enough and she will have to give a few more sprays after 4 hours.

Every Eau De Toilette glass bottle included in Scents of the World has got this beautiful prints on the back and front of glass. It’s like seeing a 3D picture when I look at the glass bottle.

For the Lily lovers, you may find Amazonian Wild Lily irresistible. Green and fresh, with iris, orchid and papaya alongside white lilies from Brazil, are what made up Amazonian Wild Lilies.

Just like the other 3 scents (Japanese Cherry Blossom, Indian Night Jasmine, Atlas Mountain Rose), Amazonian Wild Lilies consists of 5 products:

  • Shower Gel (250ml)
  • Body Lotion (200ml)
  • Eau De Toilette (50ml)
  • Fragrance Mist (100ml)
  • Perfume Oil (15ml)

I find the floral scent smelling fresh and not too overwhelming with the green grass kind of smell. Amazonian Wild Lilies shower gel and body lotion are now kept in my workplace for me to freshen up anytime when I am dying at work!

Next scent, Japanese Cherry Blossom is nothing new to me. I have ever tried their shower gel before but don’t really like it.

I was actually hoping for more sweet fruity scent instead of the light floral with Chinese Magnolia as one of the top notes. Not my kind of scent but it seems to be very popular for others.

Out of the 5 scents, Indian Night Jasmine smells the most fruity (orange) to me.

Indian Night Jasmine, a flower that only blooms under the moon. Smells a little spicy with notes of Sandalwood. Seductive oriental scent is what Indian Night Jasmine brings.

My pick from The Body Shop Scents of the World is, Atlas Mountain Rose! I have always loved skincare products that comes with rose scent. They never fail to calm my skin, my mind after a long tiring day.

The mountain rose extracts here are from Morocco. But it’s not a 100% rose scent here. Amber and musk are included with some citrus notes. The perfume oil in this case is perfect for me. On some nights before I sleep, I will drip a few drops on a piece of soft paper, attach the the soft paper on the aircon flap, so that when the cold air blows into my room, my room is filled with the calming rose scent!

Scents of the World may come with 5 different scents, but we can always play around with the scents to create a truly individual scent.

Example from The Body Shop:

Atlas Mountain Rose + Madagascan Vanilla Flower = Floral Seduction

Quoted from The Body Shop:

For a truly exotic escape, choose Madagascan Vanilla Flower, a sensual oriental that transports you to a sun-drenched tropical island.

Otherwise, refresh yourself with Amazonian Wild Lily, a crisp aquatic that brings you right into the heart of the rain-kissed jungle.

Revel in a moonlit Mughal garden with Indian Night Jasmine, a seductive oriental,

or take in the sweet scent of a Japanese spring with the romantic fruity-floral Japanese Cherry Blossom.

For an encounter like no other, choose Atlas Mountain Rose and experience the freshness of dawn in the Valley of Roses with this bright floral scent.

Scents of the World is already available at The Body Shop outlets in SG.
