[Food Review] Table Manners

The very first cafe that attracted me at Changi City Point was Eggs & Berries, serving all-day brunch. Then I also tried Grandma’s and some other restaurants which are also available at other malls.

Last year, I was waiting for the ‘pubbing lane’ to finish its renovation completion to check out the new food places and finally now, the lane is completed.

I saw there’s a restaurant with an interesting name, Table Manners, and decided to check it out.

Hubby wanted to try out Pang Prawn Toast but not available. :( So in the end we had Spicy Wings ($7.50) as snacks.

The wings aren’t as as spicy as those buffalo wings from Sunset Grill. It’s basically the layer of chilli sauce that covers the skin that is spicy. The tenderness is alright for me, but I feel the meat too little, maybe the wings are of the small ones?

Been craving for fish for the past one week and decided to just get the Fish and Chips ($16). Tastes average but I quite like the crispy truffle fries!

Arcadian Chicken ($16), roasted spiced chicken leg is delicious and juicy!

Instead of having my usual anything-to-do-with-chocolate desserts, I picked the Basil Lime Strawberry Tart. Super yummy and I heart the crust!

For the beverage, they do serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Cocktails are available too!

Disregard the table manners and hubby played around with the cute serviette!

At Table Manners, a simple illustration on table manners is indeed taught to the customers.

Very interesting! Here are some sharing tips on cutlery layout.

  • Smaller glasses are placed before the larger one.
  • Sharp edge of the knife is placed facing the plate.
  • Distance between cutlery should be kept equal.
  • Cutlery to be used first is placed furthest from the service plate.

[Food Review] Flair (Cafe.Lounge.Darts Bar)

My ex-colleagues introduced me a new place in the Central Business District (CBD) area yesterday and I find it a great chill out venue for friends and colleagues after work.

Most people will thought that’s a pub for some serious drinking sessions and at the most, serve with a variety of finger food. At least that’s what I have thought when I passby it the last time.

So when my ex-colleagues told me western food was also available, that adds another luncheon place for me. However, price isn’t cheap enough to lunch there everyday. Just a seafood Aglio Olio, it costs me about $16, alittle expensive taking into consideration that the food portion isn’t alot. I could barely feel satisfying full after the lunch. If only I have added on with a soup and desserts!

Chicken Curry seems to be the hot favourite among my ex-colleagues, but it was ran out that day. Don’t be surprise if you find Laski Lemak in the menu.

Flair is not just about dining and pubbing. It has a liveband in the evening, dart boards (not just 1 or 2, but about 5-6!), and a pool table to keep the customers entertain. It’s my first time to see dart boards in a SG pub!

Check this interesting washroom pictorial! Does it mean peeping is allowed here? Heh!

Service at Flair is good! The folks are pretty friendly and playful! While taking photographs around the bar, one of them actually spoke to me out of a sudden from my back, “So are you the photographer of the day?”! I got so embarrassed! Keke!

Asking for the any of their service is easy and convenient. I don’t have to wait for an eye contact to get their attention. Every table has this service bell. Once pressed, there will be a “ding dong” from somewhere and someone will come to attend to my needs.

I heard Shenton House will be closed down soon, maybe a year or so. Not sure where Flair will be by then, but I think it’s worth to go back for some chillax one more time for me.

[Food Review] The CheeseCake Cafe – I fell in love with it since 2009 !

The first time when I visited the Cheesecake Cafe was all the way back in 2009! IMO, the Cheesecake Cafe is one of the perfect place to hang out if I am looking at somewhere away from the noisy pubs with livebands. Cheesecake cafe does open till midnights, but beware of full house if you come late, especially on weekends.

The cafe is designed in my favourite Old English-European-mix decor, used to make me dream of visiting Paris, and finally my dream came true!

Most sofa seats are catered for customers in big groups. Then again, if there are empty seats available, we are free to sit anywhere. The only non-sofa seats are located along the side wall, suitable for 2-4 pax. Even though the seats are non-sofa, the mirrors and frames hanging on the wall are already good enough to create the romantic ambiance for you and your partner.

Upon entering the Cheesecake cafe, I am forever amazed by the uncountable number of ornaments, paintings, frames and mirrors that are hung on the wall! Pretty similar to Tea Cozy Cafe (Will blog about it one day!) but Cheesecake Cafe is still the most beautiful cafe in my eyes and mind.

Even the washroom is included in the design!

There is only one washroom in the cafe and it is meant for sharing between both sexes. So please, ahem, obey your toilet etiquette!

Do not expect to find dinner with main course in Cheesecake Cafe. They mainly serve cakes and drinks.

The cakes are a must-order if you visit.

In my recent visit, Hubby ordered the Premium Cheesecake with peach and jelly, soft and slight cheesy taste, good for those who are worried of the cheesecake being too “jerlat”.

During my past visits, I have tried the Classic Cheesecakes – Blueberry, Walnut, and Orea. My favourite is blueberry!

For the non-cheesecake, I had Chocolate Truffle, my all-time favourite. Who not loves anything that has almost 100% chocolate?

But if you will like to try something different, Chocolate Banana is my pick!

Pairing the cakes with Iced Chocolate drink. Nothing fantastic about Iced Chocolate except for its thick choc (or milo powder) taste.

Anyway iced water is free-flow here. But it is a pity if you don’t order a nice drink to pair with cakes, that’s not what “Happy Food” is all about IMO. =)

I am just so glad I stay in the east, there are so many yummy food in this area!

Dear Cheesecake Cafe, cya in my next visit!

[Food Review] Batter Fluffy Flaps

HAPPY NEW YEAR !! *throws confetti*

Had spent my new year countdown at Boiler’s Room at St. James!

Incase you aren’t aware, it was the last business night for Boiler’s Room on the last day in 2012. The club was the only club which I frequented the most in 2012, my Hen’s night and wedding night party were at Boiler’s Room as well, left some nice memories at that place.

But I guess I didn’t get myself high enough to really enjoy the party last night. Nevertheless, I only managed to sleep at 5am this morning. *panda eyes*

I love uploading photos of yummy food to facebook, twitter and instagram. Too bad I don’t have much time to review the food in my blog. But to make my first day in 2013 a memorable one, I have decided to do a food review on this day!

Woke up at noon today and had a sudden craving for brunch. Dragged hubby out to Katong to check out this cafe which we have passby some weeks ago.

Batter Fluffy Flaps, BFF in short, serves both savoury and sweet pancakes! I had almost mistaken the place to be selling brunch like Hatched, Eggs & Berries, Wild Honey, Antoinette. (My favourite is still Eggs & Berries!)

Then again, I didn’t mind pancakes since the only one which I’ve tried was Strictly Pancakes.

Melted at this cutie fluffy sheep outside the cafe!

The cafe is designed in a simple and clean concept, no fascinating and colourful decor, but white plain walls and furniture, with a few pictures of the fluffy sheep on the walls.

Can you read out the tongue twister on the wall ??

There is also a small shelf with magazines to keep you occupied while waiting for the food to be served, or to spend an afternoon sitting down reading with a cup of cuppa.

Ordered myself a glass of Iced Hazelnut Latte! Naise! Love the nutty taste!

Pancakes are available in sweet and savoury flavours, customized pancakes are available too! All comes in 2 pancakes, good for 2 persons sharing. The more the merrier, so that everyone gets to try more flavours!

Mushroom and Tiger Prawns pancakes!

The portobello mushrooms are grilled and so soft to chew! Butter is melted on the portobello mushrooms, making the mushrooms taste even more juicier!

And of course, fresh prawns! *i love prawns*

Butter and maple syrup comes with the pancakes.

Batter Fluffy Flaps, the cafe name sounds so cute to me!, especially it’s also known as BFF, like a good cosy place to hang out with my BFFs!
