Lashionista Mascara Launch Party at Zouk

Attended another product launch party at Zouk. It’s Maybelline’s most anticipated product launch of 2012, Lashionista mascara and its accompanying range of products!

For the ladies who love eye makeup, having the makeup smudged around the eyes is a disaster. Maybelline has launched its Lashionista mascara,  with HyperCosmos Duo eyeshadow, Hyper Glossy Liquid eyeliner and Babylips Pink Glow lip balm, altogether to beautify the makeup look for anytime of the day.

Lashionista Mascara (S$21.90)

Lashionista was the star at the fashion event at Zouk. Its luminous pink was just too bright to be missed at the cosmetics booth.

Lashionista is specially designed for Asian lashes, to create long-lasting, smudgeproof  and lengthening kind of eyelashes

The secret to the results is its countless fibers which are over 4mm longer than normal fibers.

There’s also a protective film coating the eyelashes, giving them the long-lasting curl and keeps them smudgeproof from water for up to 24 hours.

I tried it on for the first time, and was a little disappointed because my eyelashes were looking too sparsely far apart from one another.

But the good thing is, my eyelashes looked naturally long from side view.

I do agree with its long and plenty of fibers on the mascara coats, they sure help alot in the lash lengthening. On the other hand, alot of fibers will mean some clumping.

It’s really a pity that there was any volumizing effect on my eyelashes. Even when I followed with another mascara coat from a volumizing mascara, my eyelashes started to clump. Nevertheless, it’s a good product if you are looking for mascara to help in making the eyelashes black and looks naturally long.

Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner (S$13.90)

I am a fan of liquid eyeliner because of its black intensity in defining the eye lines. But most liquid eyeliner requires more effort in removing the stain, and this means more tugging on the skin, causing more lines.

Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner draws a sharp black line with dazzling shine that gives a more defining pair of eyes.

Just like Lashionista, Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner doesn’t smudge and is waterproof.

Hyper Cosmos (S$17.90)

Overdo the smoky effects and you can look like you’ve copped a pair of black eyes during a street fight. Pile on the sparkle and you can look like you’ve had a tussle with a Christmas tree and come off worse for wear.

Thanks to the new HyperCosmos duo eyeshadow palettes from Maybelline New York, we can now say bye to these eyeshadow offences!

Baby Lips Pink Glow (S$6.90)

Maybelline Baby Lips is back with two latest shades – Baby Lips Pink Glow Baby Pink and Baby Lips Pink Glow Pink Blast in new Mixed Berry flavor!

Other than its long-lasting (up to 8 hours) moisturizing properties, the idea here is its ability to bring out individual’s perfect pink glow!

Baby Lips Pink Glow contains Color Blooming technology that have tone revealing pigments that react with your unique lip chemistry to bring your lips to the freshest and brightest natural pink.

I have yet to try it out on myself though. I am not a fan of lip balms, am going to hold a giveaway soon. *wink*

Out of the many Maybelline events which I’ve attended, this one on Lashionista mascara launch has the most hype. Advertisements and promos had been spreading around at the collaborating blogshops, screams went on and on when the topless dudes appeared on stage, stalls selling Maybelline cosmetics, blogshops clothes and accessories were fully packed. I had to squeeze my way here and there!

Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip Balm in Fragrance-free

Heard of Beeswax? It’s very commonly used in the making of lip balm. Mentholatum uses a gentle beeswax formulation in the lipcare products, and this makes gliding the lip balm very easy and smooth.

Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip balm in fragrance-free is formulated with 100% food-grade ingredients to protect, sooth and soften the lips.

Shea butter oil, almond oil, aloe extract, jojoba oil are the natural plant ingredients which are used to provide deep moisturization to the lips.

Vitamin E and grape seed oil are also included because of their antioxidant properties to keep the lips healthy and looking youthful.

But the packaging isn’t very attractive to me. Simple, plain, in white, with a cap. This is a fragrance-free, no adding of preservatives and colorants lip balm, so I guess this explains the plain and simple packaging.

Application is very smooth on my lips. My lips don’t really feel very sticky. Infact the lip balm feels very light on my lips. Perhaps a little greasy feel from the moisturizing ingredients.

Moisturizing level is average, suitable for SG weather. It helps to keep my lips moisturized for about 4 hours in air-conditioned environment.

Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip Gel in Honey Lemon

The 2nd flavour which I get to try has a different texture from the fragrance-free lip balm. It’s in gel, with honey lemon taste!

The Mentholatum Lip Pure Honey Lemon lip gel! I feel it looks like a lipgloss to me!

In terms of ingredients, it’s more or less the same as Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip balm in fragrance-free, where everything is natural and all about conditioning the lips. And because it has the gentle beeswax formulation with 100% food grade ingredients, it is very gentle even on sensitive skin.

Application is just as easy as applying a colourless lipgloss. No worries about smudging and uneven layers on the lips.

Despite the lip gel comes in pale yellow, it’s basically sheer on my lips.

Maybe it’s the shine, it gives me the perception that my lips are more moisturized when using the lip gel (Honey Lemon) than lip balm (Fragrance-free).

I feel like having lipgloss on my lips! I guess if you are a lip shine lover who is looking at natural ingredients in lipcare products, Mentholatum Lip Pure Honey Lemon lip gel maybe a good choice for you.

#Review# Mentholatum Organic Lip Balm

Here’s a quick reviews on the two!

Raspberry & Strawberry

Strawberry! Sounds yummy? But I don’t seem to taste/smell much of the strawberry scent from this lip balm. No raspberry as well. But there’s a light sweet fruity scent with a bit of the kind of scent (not sure what’s that called, similar to a mixture of essential oils) one will smell when entering a spa salon.

It’s a lip balm, so do not expect glossy shine or wetness on the lips ya. What I experience is smooth and moisturizing results on my lips which are dry at almost 80% of the time.

Sometimes one hatred with lipgloss is, when the wind blows, 1 or 2 strands of hair tend to stick to the glossy lips. But with lip balm, the lips feel so light that one will really feel there’s nothing on the lips, and hair will never get “glued” to the lips.

Long term using helps to reduce the chances of dry chapped lips. Infact the lips will be well-nourished and stay protected from harsh environment.

Lavender & Orange

Right after applying, I smell the scent of Lavender, reminds me of the same scent at spa salons.

Gliding the lip balm on my lip is easy and smooth. I can really feel the soothing on my lips which tend to crack easily.

In my opinion, Mentholatum organic lip balm in lavender and orange can be used when lips crack. It helps to repair dry chapped lips and minimize the appearance of fine lines with Vitamin E. Its lavender scent helps to soothe the lips too.

#Review# Hello Kitty Roll-on Lipgloss

Hello Kitty:

“Legend says I am as tall as 5 apples and that I weigh 3. I am a British citizen since I live in London but I adore Paris, fashion refinement!”

I have heard of Hello Kitty since years ago but I have never known anything about her size!

I am not a huge fan of Hello Kitty but its pink ribbon, kitty face, yellow nose and tiny eyes have been catching attention from uncountable young girls and adults around me!

Hello Kitty has always been available as plushies, accessories, computer gadgets and recently, skincare.

And now, Hello Kitty has created her own brand of makeup!

Looks sweet?

Yes they are!

I am sponsored 3 of them! And I am pretty in love with the gloss and shine that all 3 leave on my lips!

Its transparent bottle seems to bling up the gloss and shine in the colours! It looks like there’s some diamond flakes in the colours!

The bottle size is about a normal lipstick’s, pretty handy to slot into the bag or even a small pouch.

Bottle cap is tightened by a few turns. Leakage is prevented in this way, and the fruity scent and freshness from the lipgloss is also well-sealed.

Application goes by rolling the roller onto the lips. Just a gentle rolling along the lips, without any pressing, the lipgloss will be dispensed easily.

Rolling the lipgloss on my lips is very smooth. Within a few rollings, I can see the difference.

All 3 lipglosses which I’ve tried are colourless on my lips! They taste/scent differently.

My pick is Pink Paradise. Its sweetness is not too overwhelming.

Big Apple and Eau de coco deliver the same amount of glossy shine as Pink Paradise. So I guess it all depends on what colour and taste that favour you the most.

#Review# Lip Smacker – Nostalgic Lipgloss with Coca Cola!

What’s the childhood of the babies born in the 70s and 80s like? Those were the days without the internet, without Wii, without Facebook. Most of us will have probably forgotten about it as time goes by. Yep, I am one of them. =)

Back to the old old old days, buying toys was really a luxury. Most of the times, we made our own toys, or were given second-hand toys. The toys looked pretty simple and dull, but they brought so much fun and laughter to my childhood. It’s also the only time in my life where friendship were the closest than now, where most are kept in touch via Facebook online.

A BIG toast and LOUD cheer to Lip Smacker for bringing us back some sweet memories from the good old days!

I received a package last week. It’s in those old brownish paper wrapper, printed with “The Good Old Days”. I gave the package a shake to guess what it contained. But all I heard was shattered noise from those bits and pieces broken ornaments! Gosh, I was hoping nothing was broken inside!

I went “wah”! Inside the package were toys seen and played during my childhood! Hard to find mama store selling them these days, who’s the sender?

The fun part was when I tried to search for the item which I was to review after figuring out that this was a sponsorship from Lip Smacker’s distributor in SG.

With abit of common sense, it’s the 3 bottle caps! I mean, definitely it must be a product which comes with decent container right~?

Maybelline NY Girls’ Luncheon Party

I had fun saturday afternoon checking out Maybelline New York’s Clear Smooth B.B Cream!

Question of the day was, “Curious to find out how you can achieve flawless skin in just one step?” and we got the question answered at A Curious Teepee! The venue name sounds like the perfect place to satisfy our curiosity eh!

Agenda for this party was to share with us the ‘miracle’ of their Clear Smooth B.B Cream which comes with 8 Skin Benefits in just 1 step! Why do I say miracle? Because it helps to set our foundation and simple eye makeup in just 3 to 3.5 minutes!

Clear Smooth B.B Cream has been in the market for about 1.5 years and only comes in one single shade, Light. It is only recently that Maybelline has launched it in a darker shade, Natural. Most of us may have the mindset that for BB Cream, it is usually one shade suits all, but there are some bb cream comes in light shade which is really unsuitable for ladies with dark skintone. That is why Maybelline has decided to launch with a darker shade.

The Natural shade is kinda dark for me but it is alright to mix the two different shades together to get the perfect shade I want. Likewise, I can use Light as concealer under my eyes and the Natural on the face contour areas to give a sharp face shape.

The texture may looks creamy but it isn’t as thick as most bb cream. I can blend it easily on my skin. It is able to hide some visibility of my freckles and fine lines, doesn’t make my skin look too cakey. What’s more, there is also the 8 skin benefits inside this bb cream!

About the packaging, it comes in a 18ml tube. There is a difference in packaging for the two different shades.

Paul Frank BIGGY

Sometime back, i did a blog post on Lip Smacker lip glosses and their packaging printed with Paul Frank characters. Those were quite an eye-catching cosmetics items!

And now, Lip Smacker & Paul Frank did it again!

This time, they launched a lip gloss which comes in BIG size!!

When i showed the BIGGY to my colleagues, they all thought it’s a glue! O.O

I joked with them, “Not bad what! I can apply on my lips and use my lips and the gloss to seal the envelopes!”

Colleagues replied, “Eeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww! Next time do NOT open any envelopes from Tiphanie!”

Whahahhaha, all went laughing out loud!

Anyway, who can resist such a cute lipcare?

Moi Last Buys Before 2010 Ends!

 X’mas presents bought for my loved ones were not my last buys.

My last buys before Twenty-Ten ends were some misc stuff (all related to beauty of course!) below,

I must be crazy to spend money on another lipgloss when i’ve got so many un-used lipglosses in my cabinet!

I had got this ten-dollar Isetan voucher, and seriously had no idea what to buy with it.

Then during X’mas eve, I realized my lips were dry and i was without lippies. so i decided to spend this voucher on this lipgloss from Ettusias.

It’s fragrance free and gives a natural shine.

But somehow, after a few touch up and applications, i felt the tube was turning empty anytime soon….
so yep, not expensive, but volume is not alot.

The lipgloss is sheer, there’s no colour.
BA applied a lip balm on my lips, that’s the base, followed by a moisturizing lip colour,
and finally this lipgloss.

I had this yummy house honey in the office, and was told to use a wooden spoon to scoop the honey,
so as to maintain its quality.

So i bought this wooden spoon, came in a pack of two,
left one in the office, another one at home, just incase i decided to bring the honey home one day!

Honey helps to improve and maintain one’s skin complexion ya!
