After cleansing and applying the basic care products on the face, pump out an appropriate amount of the BB cream, pat it all over the face. For targeted areas like blemishes, freckles and dark circles, apply slightly more than the rest.

Before

Spreading is easy, texture is neither too thick nor creamy. It’s not heavy on my skin. The LUVIEW Crystal BB Cream is easily blended into my skin tone within a few minutes.

After

It has some bling bling ingredients like crystal, pearl, amethyst to brighten up the skin, giving it the natural glow. I find the coverage average, it’s able to cover up blemishes.

LUVIEW Crystal Cover BB Cream can be applied 3 ways.

Using hand : My recommended way! Due to the warm temperature from the hand, BB Cream absorption is the fastest. The only con is, needs the most amount during spreading.

Using Sponge : Gives the most coverage! But has the hassle of washing the sponge regularly. BB Cream stains may just pile up on the sponge which makes the coverage thick and uneven.

Using Brush : Based on my experience, it uses the least amount of BB Cream. Just like applying liquid foundation, the cream is easily and evenly spread in a swift! However, prolly my skill is not pro enough, I tend to end up with some brush marks on my face! So please becareful on that!

Overall, I am quite satisfied with Crystal Cover BB Cream from LUVIEW. Loves the natural radiance and glow from the crystals!

#Review# The Highly Popular 4 BB Cream from BRTC!

In this October, I am seriously BB cream overdosed! I have received quite a few tubes of BB cream for reviewing, and I am super happy about it.

I have always been curious about how each BB cream is said to heal/improve the skin’s condition. It can be applied in thin layer, serves as a makeup base or concealer, or a moderate layer as a liquid foundation. Either way, it is able to provide some coverage for the face.

I’ve taken the before and after photos from using the BB creams. The difference is very noticeable.

All 4 BB creams are almost equally good and I have a hard time deciding which is my favourite.

Despite all 4 BB creams have different shades, they are able to blend into my skintone which looked natural after application. I guess this what a good BB cream is all about, isn’t it? They are supposed to suit many different skin tones, blend into the skin tone to look natural and almost perfect.

Jasmine Water BB Cream

Jasmine Moist System is what this BB cream is all about keeping the skin moisturizing and soothing.  It also provides brightening effect for both sensitive and dry skin types.

The truth about my combination skin is, I have uneven skin tone, pigmentation like freckles, and a little redness due to my thin skin. (It’s true, my skin is quite thin after a skin analysis which I’ve done before)

Texture of the BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream is light and blending is easy and smooth. The result is very obvious, my skin looks smooth and has the natural glow!

Comes with SPF 30.

I actually follow up with loose powder or two-way cake (depends on my mood) after the bb cream. Surprisingly, my skin feels hydrated for up to 5 hours before I do another touch up using two-way cake.

Gold Caviar BB Cream

Gold Caviar is all about delaying aging skin and solving signs of an aging skin. Wrinkles and saggy skin are few of the signs we can see from an aging skin.

What happens is that, BRTC Gold Caviar BB Cream contains Caviar, Collagen and other nutrients that will help to protect the skin from against environmental damage, nourishes the skin to turn soft and smooth, less wrinkles and improve skin’s elasticity.

It also comes with SPF 50 PA +++ which is very sufficient to protect skin from sun damage.

The texture is a little more thicker and heavier than BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream. It also has the darkest shade among the 4 BRTC BB Creams in this blogpost, so coverage-wise it pretty good, especially with concealing fine lines near the eyes and frown lines.

Whitening & Repairing BB Cream

BRTC Whitening & Repairing BB Cream has almost the same protection system as BRTC Gold Caviar BB Cream. It doesn’t focus on fighting against wrinkles, but also whitening, for those who are looking at a fair skin complexion, like me.

Unlike from the BRTC Gold Caviar BB Cream, it has the lightest shade and gives very fair and natural coverage to the skin.

Apart from repairing wrinkled skin, it contains active elements to achieve a bright and smooth skin.

Comes with SPF 37 PA ++.

Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream

From the name and you’ll know it’s about hydration for the skin. BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream makes use of an Aqua Rush System to hydrate dry skin type.

Comes with SPF 28 PA ++.

As I spread on the bb cream on my skin, tiny water drops are released from the bb cream to hydrate and quench skin’s thirst. That’s what the Aqua Rush System is all about.

After

Despite it’s less creamy texture, it is able to conceal most of my skin’s imperfections. My 2nd love among this 4 bb creams.

#Review# L’Oreal Paris Lucent Magique BB Cream – The 1st Skin Transforming BB Cream!

Last September 2012, L’Oreal Paris launched its first illuminating bb cream, Lucent Magique BB Cream.

Its milky white texture consists of these BB capsules encapsulated a blend of skin-perfecting pigments. When Lucent Magique BB Cream is applied on the skin, these BB capsules will slowly ‘melt’ and blends the BB cream to your skin tone to achieve a radiant glow on the skin.

So even though Lucent Magique BB Cream comes in only one shade, white, it is still able to blend into your skintone naturally.

When I first tried it, I thought the texture looked quite like a cleanser with fine beads.

But it turned out the texture is actually very soft. It didn’t leave a thick  creamy feel on my skin, infact my skin felt light and smooth. My skin also looked natural with radiant coverage (yep, my freckles were sort of less visible without using concealer) and an even skin tone after blending.

I did not have pores issue on my face, so no comment on that.

Comes with SPF 20 PA +++.

Lucent Magique BB Cream is now available at all L’Oreal Paris Counters in SG, retailing at S$24.90.

#Review# Za Total Hydration BB Cream UV

Yay! It’s another new product coming up from Za-Cosmetics! This time round, it’s a 12-in-1 BB cream from Total Hydration range!

This new BB cream has got 12 benefits for the skin, and caters to almost all BB  cream/foundation addicts who will love to have!

I did a comparison of Za Total Hydration BB Cream UV with another brand’s BB Cream, let’s called it Brand X.

Using the same amount of BB cream on each hand, one very obvious result was shine. Za’s BB Cream didn’t show a single shine on my hand while Brand X BB Cream leaves quite a relative shine, loose powder or two-way cake is definitely needed to touch up to reduce it.

And when comes to coverage, fine lines are not visible from Za’s BB Cream whereas Brand X still leave a few fine lines visible.

The finish which Za’s BB cream leaves is smooth, matte with abit of powdery feel. Brand X leaves a slight stickiness on my skin.

Basically, the 12 benefits fall under skincare, foundation and sunscreen.

Total Hydration BB Cream UV has a formula and texture that are different from the usual BB cream which I’ve seen.

When I first squeezed out a pea-sized amount, it’s in cream texture. But after applying on my skin, it gave my skin a matte with slight powdery feel! Its powdery formula has a colour control property which helps to even out skintone, brightening up the skin.

And when comes to coverage, it is able to conceal pores! Its poreless powder actually diffuses light  to minimize the appearance of pores! I don’t have much pores issue so I can’t really comment much on that. But I tried the BB Cream UV on my fine lines and the same result appears! Fine lines appearance was minimized greatly! Spreading of the BB Cream UV was easy. Gliding was very smooth and I could finish my foundation with or without a loose powder/2-way cake.

Let’s start with foundation.

In 2011, Maybelline has got Pure Mineral BB Mouse Instant Pore Eraser and Clear Smooth BB Cream (review here) out in stores, this year, Clear Smooth BB UV White is launched for those who want better sun protection and brightening properties.

Pure Mineral BB Mouse Instant Pore Eraser uses a technology which involves Micro Air Bubbles to conceal the pores on the skin. Clear Smooth BB Cream focus on hydration, radiance, smoothness coverage.

Clear Smooth UV BB White is launched specially for the sunshine babes who loves the sun or gets under the sun frequently. Its brightening formula helps to reduce pigmentation.

BB UV White comes in 2 shades. I didn’t get to try out 01 Light shade so I did a swatch on 02 Natural shade.

Texture-wise, it’s very light and is easily glided on the skin evenly. Coverage is not bad, able to conceal imperfections on the skin. As for pigmentation, visibility of freckles was reduced.

I gave 02 Natural to mum who fell in love with BB UV White upon her first application. Her face looked brightened up with a natural glow. She has always loved foundation which gives glow and radiance to her aging skin, so right now BB UV White is her new found love. 

Just like Clear Smooth BB Cream, Clear Smooth BB UV White also comes in 8 properties:

• High UV Protection (SPF 50, PA+++)
• Evens skin tone
• Visibly lightens skin tone
• Smooths pores
• Corrects the appearance of dark spots
• More hydrated skin
• Conceals imperfections
• All day coverage, long lasting

These 8 properties make BB UV White All-in-1 thing and it’s a sunblock-cum-skincare-cum-foundation! It’s definitely a keep on my dressing table, sure to come in handy when I am in a rush for time!

To add some rosiness to the cheeks, Maybelline is launching Jelly Glow Blush which comes in jelly texture! There will a total of 4 shades available in the stores.

I have only managed to snap two shades, 02 and 04. If I am not wrong, the other two shades will be close to brown and orange.

The texture is much softer than cream blusher, but it feels extremely smooth! I use my middle finger to dab the Jelly Glow Blush onto my cheeks, and slowly blend them outwards.

Aren’t the Jelly Glow Blush cute? They can be so conveniently carried everywhere for an emergency use!

I love the rosy glow the blusher leaves on my cheeks after blending.

There’s no worry about the blusher fading after a few hours. It’s very long-lasting for up to 6 hours! This is sufficient for me as I tend to touch my makeup after 4-5 hours.

As the saying goes, eyes are the windows to our souls. It’s important to know how to enhance your eye makeup, to give yourself a fresh and lively look. (I am still learning how!)

Introducing the Maybelline Volume Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara. Maybelline has previously launched a few Magnum mascara but this one is going to be different from the rest.

Some key points of this mascara are:

• Its Collagen-rich Formula in the waterproof mascara coats. Rubbing the eyes will not wear off the mascara coats.
• Water-resistible, tear-resistable, sebum-resistable.
• Its Ultra Comb applicator comes in a curve that is designed to fit Asian eyes, able to coat from root to tip evenly.
• Volumized each eyelash 7 times its volume without making the eyelashes heavy!
• Clumping is minimized.
• Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Maybelline has previously launched a few mascara but I have yet to try any of it. My mum have tried a few and is always satisfied with the results. She even bought the Hello Kitty one, Volume Express Cat Eyes Mascara (waterproof)! Well, my mum is quite trendy incase you aren’t aware of it.

Here I am trying out this Maybelline Volume Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara.

Its sleek Ultra Comb applicator looks interesting with the convex curve. Application on my bottom eyelashes has never been so much easier with the Ultra Comb applicator!

Applying two coats were not enough for me. Though there was no clumps, but my eyelashes were not volumized enough.

I tried to carry on with more coats.

For optimum result, apply each coat on top of another when the eyelash is semi-dry. This way helps to minimize clumping and gives a good definition of the black eyelashes.

Below are some snaphots which I took, no eyelash curler was used before mascara application.

I was impressed with the lengthened and volumized effects on my eyelashes.

Throughout the day, there was not smudges, and the mascara coats were easily removed with point makeup remover. Despite no eyelash curler was used, I was surprised that my eyelashes were able to lift up well.

To finish off the makeup look, a white eyeliner for the waterline will help to brighten up the eyes better!

I have always loved white eyeliner, it somehow helps to brighten/open up my eyes, be it I apply on the inner corners of my eyes or waterlines.

Tear-look seems to be very attractive to me, and white is like the only colour which suits my dark-circled eyes.

Maybelline Masterline White comes in a crayon-like texture. When comes to sharpening, it will be good if you can sharpen the tip so as to achieve easy drawing on waterline.

I had only swatch lightly to see how intense the white could appear. It turned out to be not bad!

Maybelline Masterline White is formulated with nylon and waxes that are rich in pigments, and this explains the intense white line. The crayon tip feels soft and gentle while drawing on my waterline.

The best of all, it’s waterproof and smudge-proof!

Drawing on the waterline was smooth and easy. There wasn’t any discomfort on my eyes, I first use a cotton bud to remove any excess sebum on my waterline, then I started drawing on my water line, and I was done in a breeze! The more layers I drew, the more intense the white line effect was!

Before using Maybelline Masterline White, I was using Canmake pencil eyeliner in glittering white. The gliding wasn’t smooth and many times, my waterline was drawn unevenly. I gave up on rely on eyeshadow.

Now that I have Maybelline Masterline White, I am feeling with great joy inside me! For those who loves kawaii look, this is a must-have item in your makeup pouch!

I went home with the products and tried them on myself! The time spent in applying them was so much lesser than what I had spent on previously. Applying makeup with these 4 basic items was a breeze!

Starting with haircare!

Hair Styling brand Lucido-L!

Lucido-L believes for beautiful hair and style, the inner care-oriented customers are looking for a “product that can essentially improve hair from within”.

Hair texture (moisture, softness) is more important that its shape!

So Lucido-L came up with Hair Make Supplement, an oil-based hair serum which contains +CMC, a CMC-like ingredient.

CMC stands for Cell Membrane complex and exists inside our hair follicles. CMC works like stem to transport water (moisture) with the hair follicles. When the CMC is broken, water transportation breaks and parts of the hair cuticles and cortix lose their strength due to lack of moisture, and finally hair becomes dry and damaged, split ends occur.

Lucido-L understands the importance of CMC and hence came up with a CMC-like ingredient to be formulated inside their Hair Make Supplement, so as to compensate for the broken CMC inside hair follicles.

In this way, hair moisture is maintained and improved, hair becomes more manageable and healthy. And because it is oil-based, the treatment oil coats the hair surface to prevent water loss.

Felt so sad whenever I saw the dryness on my hair ends… =(

Hair Make Supplement is recommended to be used on washed, towel-dried hair, infact most hair serums are to be applied that way. But for this blogpost, I decided to try it on my dry hair to see what the results would be like.

I picked the pink bottle to try it out. The bottle looked so cute!! It had a shape of a supplement pill!

I took about 3 full pumps.

Smells niceeeeeeeeeeeee!

The nice fruity with abit of floral scent from the Hair Make Supplement made me feel so rejuvenated!

Upon application, I tried to spread the light texture heavily on my hair ends, and some remaining amount all the way up to my mid hair length.

Check out my hair ends, they looked so smooth and healthy!

After applying my hair ends, I believe my palms still had some residue of the product, so, I just brushed through my hair crown with my palms.

Surprisingly, the frizzes on my hair top were tamed! Less frizzes as compared to before.

Hair Make Supplement is non sticky and non oily on my hair.

It’s so light on my hair that I felt my hair had nothing on at all!

I’ve also tried the product on my washed, towel-dried hair. My hair felt smooth and very manageable when it’s dried up after application. The fruity scent tend to last longer that way.

Hair Treatment Water

After applying hair serum on the hair, it’s still not the end. Incase you aren’t aware, hair moisture tends to evaporate be it under the hot sun, or inside an airconditioned room.

I carry this handy-sized Hair Treatment Water (hair mist) around to moisture the hair at all times! Usually at the end my working day, my hair looks tired and dull.

The above reviews are from 2010. For the liquid eyeliner, right now there are two newly revised version ones, Smooth Liquid Eyeliner N and Impact Liquid Eyeliner N. Both are more intense in terms of blackness, more long-lasting as compared to the earlier versions.

Differences between Smooth and Impact liquid eyeliners:

My recommended must-try items if you are a newbie to Heroine Make:

Eyelash serum

Finally, after applying the makeup, we will also need special care to remove them!

Cleansing Express, the well-known and highly popular makeup remover, was also brought in by Mandom Corp. Cleansing Express has renamed to Bifesta recently.

Review on Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover
I tried out this makeup remover on my waterproof eyeliner and mascara.

Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover is a waterbased product. Its formulation was derived from toners which contain oil dissolving moisturizing agents. Oil contained in makeup is lifted up quickly without tugging and rubbing on the delicate skin. Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover moisturizes the eyes area during eye makeup removal.

Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover is bi-phase, it consists layers of water and oil. This formulation ensures stubborn eye makeup can be easily removed.

Here’s my eye makeup with waterproof eyeliner and waterproof mascara before product application.

Give the eye makeup remover a shake before use.

Poured an appropriate amount onto cotton pad, be generous ya, at least ensure half to two-third of the cotton are soaked.

Wipe gently onto the eyes. Rubbing is not required as Bifesta Eye Makeup Remover works by lifting makeup rather than melting it away.

For waterproof eye makeup like my scenario here, hold the cotton pad onto the eyes for awhile before wiping it off.

During my first wipe, I wasn’t generous with the product and I didn’t hold the cotton pad onto my eyes for awhile before the wipe. It resulted that my first wipe wasn’t very successful.

So I poured more onto the cotton pad during my 2nd wipe, this time I made sure I held my cotton pad onto my eye makeup for a few seconds before the wipe.

And true enough, most of my eye makeup came off!

There were a few smudges on my bottom eyeline, I folded the cotton pad and used the clean area to wipe the rest of my eyes area, the smudges were removed very easily.

No stinging on my eyes, mess-free and fast way to remove eye makeup.

It is meant to moisturize the skin, giving it maximum hydration while keeping the oil sebum production on the skin. In other words, it is said to have oil control property.

Keeping the skin hydrated at all times is equally the same as preventing/delaying fine lines and pigmentation which are caused by dehydration. When fine lines and pigmentation are minimized, a fair and clear skin will be achieved, provided no pimples/acnes!

Packaging

Packaging wise, it comes in a handy tube, with tightened cap to prevent product leakage.

How I use

I used as per the instruction stated on packaging. Cleanse and tone my face, followed by Ginvera New Aqua Whitening Cream. I squeezed out the appropriate amount and dot dot dot, meaning dots the cream on the different parts of my face, so as to spread and massage easily and evenly.

Before & After

My before and after photos, not much difference but my face did feel smooth and moisturized after application. After 3 consecutive days of application, twice daily (day & night), no breakouts for me. As for oil control, I felt it was average, oil shine still appeared less than 3 hours.

Ingredient List

From the ingredient list, notice that it contains Green Tea extracts, Green Tea essence has always been regarded as an antioxidant. As an antioxidant, it protects the skin cells from the harmful UV rays which tend to accelerate aging to the skin.

There is also Thanakha extracts inside the formulation, this is meant to help with whitening to achieve radiant glow.

Biogel is included to help in skin cell growth and whitening effects. Biogel is rich in the various amino acids, proteins.

This is a BB cream from Ginvera, targets to moisture and nourish the skin, while at the sametime, conceal the flaws and protect the skin from the harmful rays with SPF30/PA++. And of course, as a BB cream, it helps to ensure the skin is free from blemishes.

Packaging

Also comes in tube with a cap which I personally feel it doesn’t secure from leakage. When I opened the cap for the 2nd time, I noticed leakage of BB cream inside the cap, wastage eh? In the end I have to place the BB cream vertically upside down on my dressing table to prevent further leakage.

How I use

As usual, I squeezed out the appropriate amount on my hand before ‘dotting’ them onto my face. Comes in only one shade, nude. The texture was neither thick nor creamy, easily spread on my face. Just by looking at the texture alone, I have thought it would be too dark for my fair skin, but I was wrong, Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream was able to blend in very into my skin shade.

It took a few seconds for the BB cream to blend into my skin shade.

After a minute or so, my skin felt velvety!

It had a nice scent as well, the scent (I smell ginseng inside!) was light but after applying the BB cream on my face, I was still able to smell the scent on my face!

But sad to say, after 4-5 hours, the foundation was easily smudged and I had to touch up a few times. Not sure if it’s my 2-way cake problem, but from my past experience, the 2-way cake didn’t give me this problem.

Before & After

The ‘Before’ photo is actually the one which I have applied the Ginvera New Aqua Whitening Cream. On top of that, I have added another photo after applying a 2-way cake foundation.

Maybelline NY Girls’ Luncheon Party

I had fun saturday afternoon checking out Maybelline New York’s Clear Smooth B.B Cream!

Question of the day was, “Curious to find out how you can achieve flawless skin in just one step?” and we got the question answered at A Curious Teepee! The venue name sounds like the perfect place to satisfy our curiosity eh!

Agenda for this party was to share with us the ‘miracle’ of their Clear Smooth B.B Cream which comes with 8 Skin Benefits in just 1 step! Why do I say miracle? Because it helps to set our foundation and simple eye makeup in just 3 to 3.5 minutes!

Clear Smooth B.B Cream has been in the market for about 1.5 years and only comes in one single shade, Light. It is only recently that Maybelline has launched it in a darker shade, Natural. Most of us may have the mindset that for BB Cream, it is usually one shade suits all, but there are some bb cream comes in light shade which is really unsuitable for ladies with dark skintone. That is why Maybelline has decided to launch with a darker shade.

The Natural shade is kinda dark for me but it is alright to mix the two different shades together to get the perfect shade I want. Likewise, I can use Light as concealer under my eyes and the Natural on the face contour areas to give a sharp face shape.

The texture may looks creamy but it isn’t as thick as most bb cream. I can blend it easily on my skin. It is able to hide some visibility of my freckles and fine lines, doesn’t make my skin look too cakey. What’s more, there is also the 8 skin benefits inside this bb cream!

About the packaging, it comes in a 18ml tube. There is a difference in packaging for the two different shades.

The face powder leaves a silky smooth feel on my skin after application.  I look back at my face after 15 minutes, my foundation has more or less blended very well and naturally into my skintone.

The compact case is really flat and compact, fits easily to a small makeup pouch. The baby green/mint is so clean-looking!

This is a miracle for me as usually spend about 15 minutes to get my foundation done! From the activity we had at the event, on average, 15 minutes is the common duration most of us use to set our foundation.

Now I can have an extra sleep of 10minutes on my working days. As you know, waking up early in the morning for work is really a pain, sometimes, even it is only 5 minutes, they are still very precious snoozing duration!
