[Food Review] The CheeseCake Cafe – I fell in love with it since 2009 !

The first time when I visited the Cheesecake Cafe was all the way back in 2009! IMO, the Cheesecake Cafe is one of the perfect place to hang out if I am looking at somewhere away from the noisy pubs with livebands. Cheesecake cafe does open till midnights, but beware of full house if you come late, especially on weekends.

The cafe is designed in my favourite Old English-European-mix decor, used to make me dream of visiting Paris, and finally my dream came true!

Most sofa seats are catered for customers in big groups. Then again, if there are empty seats available, we are free to sit anywhere. The only non-sofa seats are located along the side wall, suitable for 2-4 pax. Even though the seats are non-sofa, the mirrors and frames hanging on the wall are already good enough to create the romantic ambiance for you and your partner.

Upon entering the Cheesecake cafe, I am forever amazed by the uncountable number of ornaments, paintings, frames and mirrors that are hung on the wall! Pretty similar to Tea Cozy Cafe (Will blog about it one day!) but Cheesecake Cafe is still the most beautiful cafe in my eyes and mind.

Even the washroom is included in the design!

There is only one washroom in the cafe and it is meant for sharing between both sexes. So please, ahem, obey your toilet etiquette!

Do not expect to find dinner with main course in Cheesecake Cafe. They mainly serve cakes and drinks.

The cakes are a must-order if you visit.

In my recent visit, Hubby ordered the Premium Cheesecake with peach and jelly, soft and slight cheesy taste, good for those who are worried of the cheesecake being too “jerlat”.

During my past visits, I have tried the Classic Cheesecakes – Blueberry, Walnut, and Orea. My favourite is blueberry!

For the non-cheesecake, I had Chocolate Truffle, my all-time favourite. Who not loves anything that has almost 100% chocolate?

But if you will like to try something different, Chocolate Banana is my pick!

Pairing the cakes with Iced Chocolate drink. Nothing fantastic about Iced Chocolate except for its thick choc (or milo powder) taste.

Anyway iced water is free-flow here. But it is a pity if you don’t order a nice drink to pair with cakes, that’s not what “Happy Food” is all about IMO. =)

I am just so glad I stay in the east, there are so many yummy food in this area!

[Food Review] Fu Lin Yong Tau Foo

Along Siglap Road, there are two Ampang Yong Tau Foo stalls. One is named Fu Lin (福林), another called Yuan Wei (原味).

Tried Fu Lin and right now, I proclaim it as my NUMBER ONE Ampang Yong Tau Foo! It is definitely better than the ones along Sembawang/Upper Thomson Road.

Initially I wanted to try Yuan Wei but the food was more or less sold out. Oh well, next time~

I went to Fu Lin on a Friday night, at about 8pm, it wasn’t crowded. One will not even notice this coffeeshop because it looks really old and simple, the photos inside the coffeeshop are not even attractive to the eyes.

When comes to yong tau foo, it is not the variety but the gravy that matters.

Fu Lin has created their unique gravy receipe without using lard and pork! Infact, they added minced chicken meat into the gravy, and with their own recipe, the gravy cannot taste anymore better already!

Darling had picked almost 2 pcs of everything we choose! I was thinking, “die, gonna overeat again… fat die me!”.

But after all the cutting and frying, The plate of yong tau foo surprisingly didn’t look too much for my stomach. What a sense of relief!

We had rice (that comes with a separate bowl yummy gravy) and noodles for sharing. Just nice for the two of us.

And oh! Don’t forget to dip the yong tau foo into the chilli sauce! Those awesome homemade (I believe!) chilli sauce for yong tau foo!

I had thought my bill would add up to $20 over but guess what, it was only $15.50 after including a can of root beer! Very reasonable price of  a meal for two!

Fu Lin has been in business since 1994 and is still in operation, after winning awards and recommendations from the media. *impressive*

Sharing my review after using the new Biore facial foam cleansers.

I have started to experience dryness in my skin since my Europe trip, so I decided to start off with Biore facial foam Extra Moist.

[Food Review] Delicious at Scotts Square

Been wanting to try out this cafe, Delicious, at Scotts Square ever since the building reno. I find the blue bird-caged theme interior design rather cute and reminds me of Tiffany & Co!

The best of all, it has this eye-catching display outside the cafe.

That explains why I stopped by to check out their cakes menu!

Prices at Delicious are pretty reasonable and food including kids meal comes in huge portions!

Deep fried Calamari (S$10) with homemade tartare sauce! Most calamari may taste so chewy and rubbery that one has problem chewing it off. Calamari at Delicious are fresh and huge. The crispy coats are of minimal thickness. I tend to feel cheated when the calamari rings look huge when in actual fact the reason why they look big is because of the thick crispy coats instead of the calamari ring size.

Chilli Corn Carne Cheese Fries (S$9) with Sour and Melted Cheese got my husband a shock when he saw the waiter walking towards our table with a big plate of fries. He had thought it would be a moderate small plate meant for small bites, and was almost stuffed when he saw so much lean minced beef on top of the fries. The portion is a lot bigger than those from Carls Junior.

I specially enjoyed the fries despite I am not a fan of potato. The fries were crispy on the outside, and yet soft and warm on the inside. Less salty than MacDonald’s.

Macadamia Cheescake ($7), topped with cruchy macadamia nut brittle and caramel was too filling for me to finish. The cheese is thick and highly recommended for sharing. Too much of it makes it tastes “jerlat”.

I will still prefer cheesecake from The Cheesecake Cafe. I fell in love with this cafe the first time I visited in 2009! Will blog about it when I have the time!

Delicious is definitely a great place for some noisy chit chats. With its huge food portions at affordable prices, everyone is going to feel comfortable gathering there. And of, there is free flow of ice/warm water! *aunty mode* Heh!
