[Food Tasting Session] Domino’s Pizza Goes Halal

Last Friday, I joined a bunch of 9 other bloggers for a pizza feast at Domino’s Pizza. Currently there are 13 Domino’s Pizza outlets in SG. I have my first visit at the Tampines outlet which provides dine-in, take-away and delivery services.

Incase you aren’t aware, Domino’s Pizza is Halal certified. Halal food isn’t just about “no pork”. There are more meanings and purposes about Halal food. One of the most important purposes is about “hygiene”. Halal food are certified based on a set of rules and guidelines, i.e. standard operating procedure.

• Ingredients have to be freshly made, bought and kept.
• Food processing environment has to be clean.
• Food has to be prepared, packed and delivered within a specific book rules.

All these are to ensure that customers will be guaranteed with fresh and tasty food, they pay for what they deserve to get.

All bloggers including myself went through how easy and hassle free an online order could be created and sent to Domino’s Pizza.

Domino’s Pizza has this GPS (Great Pizza Service) Tracker on the website which allows customers to check the status of their orders.

There are a total of 7 status to keep track of our orders.

1. Order placed – The moment an order was submitted via the website, a call would be made to the nearest available outlets where the food will be prepared.
2. Preparing – Ingredients are being prepared.
3. Baking – Pizza orders are in the midst of baking and other side and beverages are also in the midst of preparation.
4. Boxing – Baked pizza is then placed onto the correct box size.
5. Packing – All food and drinks are now packed into the delivery bag.
6. Preparing for Delivery – Delivery man is preparing to set off to deliver the food.
7. Delivering – Domino’s Pizza delivery is on its way!

The red status in GPS indicates the status of the order. All in all, Domino’s Pizza assures pizza to be delivered within 30 minutes. Failure to do so, vouchers will be given to the affected customers as a gesture of appreciating their patience and inconvenience caused. With the vouchers, Domino’s Pizza hopes to serve the customers again with better service next time.

Likewise, if there’s any complaint on the freshness and quality of the delivered food, Domino’s Pizza will take the matter seriously and do their best to win back the customer’s confidence.

During my wait, I noticed there were few other customers who were also waiting for the take-away orders. There is a 15-minute take-out guarantee for customers who are buying take-away. It’s amazing that despite the many orders placed during the peak hour (dinner time), I could still have my food served within 30 minutes. Good service.

Best of all, there is no delivery charge at Dominio’s Pizza. All prices at their website are nett prices.

With so much variety at Domino’s Pizza, all bloggers who attended this event were in for a great feast. There was a lot of food, I was too full to even try every flavour of the pizza that was served.

Here are the few flavour of pizza which the folks from Domino’s Pizza treated us:

Not sure if I was the only one, but the first pizza which caught my attention was The Big BBQ. The grid lines drawn on the pizza were actually BBQ sauce.

Next favourite was Hawaiian Paradise. Smoked Chicken Breast, Turkey Ham, Juicy Pineapples and mozzarella cheese were like the perfect ingredients for Hawaiian Paradise.

For mushroom lovers like me, Classified Chicken is the one. Generous servings of fresh mushrooms in slices! =)

For side order: I tried 4 out of the 11 choices available.

Twisty Bread – Must eat it while it’s warm. Love its garlic taste.
Garlic Cheese Onion Rings – Garlic x Cheese = Yummy Max!
Golden Roasted Drummets – I noticed this was the first dish most bloggers took when the food was served!
Crazy Chicken Crunchies – Believe it or not, it has Tom Yum taste! Must eat it with their Dangy Cheese Dip!

When comes to beverages, there are a wide variety at Domino’s Pizza website.

Just like the saying goes, “save the best for the last!”.

Each of us were treated a whole piece of Chocolate Lava Cake! I didn’t realize there is such a heavenly dessert at Domino’s Pizza! OMG! Each of us were like drooling over the choc dessert.

It was served in warm temperature. I must say the temperature was well-kept inside its box. I only opened up my dessert after about 15 minutes and surprisingly, the cake was still warm and the choc lava inside the cake was still warm and soft!

By the way, there’s a disposable spoon packed together with the cake, very convenient to buy take-away and have it on the spot with your special someone. <3

The event ended with a cheer from the friendly peeps from Domino’s Pizza Tampines. Thanks to their great passion in preparing and serving us fresh tasty pizza.

[Movie Review] Immortal in 3D

Here comes my another movie review on this action/fantasy movie which is out on the theatres on 17th November 2011, Immortal, available in 3D!

Starring: Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Freida Pinto, John Hurt, Isabel Lucas, Mickey Rourke

The story on Immortal, happened in the era when mankind and ancient Greek Gods existed. Just like the movies 300 and Clash Of The Titans, Immortal was all about Greek Mythology, Triumph over Evil.

The movie Immortal began with the beautiful sceneries, and homes of the villagers. Watching these scenes in 3D was extremely beautiful and I was really stunned by the great CGI (Computer Generated Image).

In the story, there was this over-ambitious King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) who would resort to killings in order to find a legendary weapon, Epirus Bow, which was created by God-of-war, Ares. With Epirus Bow, King Hyperion would be able to free the Titans from Tartarus and use them to take revenge on the Olympians who had destroyed his kingdom. The Olympians gained their supremacy in a war of gods in which Zeus led his siblings to victory over the Titans.

The Titans had been locked up while the mankind carried on with their daily lives on earth and the Gods were on heaven.

In the law of Gods, they were not allowed to make any form of their true appearance and existence infront of human, neither could they helped to defend the mankind against King Hyperion who showed cruelty to human.

If the Gods helped, they would be severely punished.

One by one, each village were taken over by King Hyperion who was still in search to find the hidden Epirus Bow.

It was only when Hyperion reached the village where Theseus (Henry Cavill) lived, a hero finally existed to fight for the humanity.

Theseus was chosen by Zeus (Luke Evans) since young, learnt to be brave, with a righteous mind. Theseus was born was an illegibility son and was despised by everyone since young. It was the hardship which he faced that made him strong.

He met a lady who could see visions of the future, Priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto). Priestess Phaedra was also on the wanted list by King Hyperion.

I am pretty amazed by the wisdom in Priestess Phaedra. She was alert and brave. There was a scene when Priestess Phaedra accidentally tripped onto Theseus’s feet and immediately she had a vision. She knew Theseus was someone special and had been touched by a God. At that point of time, Theseus (captured by King Hyperion) tried to keep himself alive without drinking any water. When most of us would have thought Priestess Phaedra (who was also captured) was going to drink water from the fountain, she was actually holding the water insider her mouth to give to Theseus.

Both of them, together with a thief called Stavos (Stephen Dorff), braved their hearts and souls to save their homeland.

Immortal is a 3D movie showing how Triumph can come over the Evil as long as people has faith and a sense of righteous.

Even when Poseidon who is the God of the sea, knew that Gods were not allowed to come in-between the dispute between human and King Hyperion, he actually sacrificed himself to save Theseus and his friends. Poseidon has shown his sense of righteous in this movie, and his punishment really saddened me.

[Movie Review] Tower Heist

Tower Heist is a hilarious comedy movie. Be prepared to laugh your heart out from the beginning to the end of the show! Tower Heist is not just about “laugh-because-it-is-funny”, but also about teamwork and friendship, and together, everyone can get things work out.

Although it is a comedy movie, it’s still not an appropriate one for young kids to tag along, because the movie talks about robbery plans! Yes robbery plans on how to rob back what’s supposed to be yours, how exciting eh!

Inside the movie Tower Heist,  there lived a Wall Street Scammer, Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) scamming money from his investors and employees who were earning averaged income . As a result, some employees went bankrupt and committed suicide. While there were victims there trying to live on, Arthur Shaw enjoyed his richness and luxury of living in the most luxurious residential building in NY City.

Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller), was one of the employees working under Arthur Shaw, he’s the building manager to help his boss to manage the residential building which was also where the boss lived. Josh had his colleagues, Charlie (Casey Affleck), Enrique (Michael Pena), Lester (Stephen Henderson) who were all earning the similar average income, leading a simple and happy life.

Things changed when they realized Shaw took (or rather stole!) their retirement pensions under the Ponzi Scheme.

The FBI team lead by Claire Denham (Tea Leoni) were alerted but there’s no way to get back all the scammed money from Shaw. Lester committed suicide because of the money loss, Josh and his colleagues (Charlie and Enrique) were frustrated and took revenge on Shaw’s most expensive gold car which was inside Shaw’s apartment. They smashed the car windows, headlights etc. But all 3 of them were fired.

But they did not give up! It’s their hard earned money, why should they give up right!

So Josh began his plan to rob back all their money, and that mean he would need to form a team of “qualified robbers”! To prove their “qualification” in the robbery, each of them had to go do some stealing in public places. OMG, these scenes were hilarious! One of them actually went Victoria’s Secret to steal G-strings!!!

Being a building manager working at the building for many years, Josh knew the structure of the building very well more than anyone else. Inside his team, he had Charlie, Enrique, Mr Fitzhugh (Matthew Broderick), and Odessa (Gabourey Sidibe) who was a housekeeper for Shaw’s apartment. She’s responsible to tidy his apartment when the apartment was being watched by FBI. She’s good inside the movie, do look out for her chocolate cake story!

These members had sort of knew the bits and pieces of the building where they were going to rob.

But it was still not enough! They had no experience in robbery!

So Josh went on to seek help from a criminal, Slide (Eddie Murphy) who was supposed to have experiences in stealing. Each of them played an very important role in the robbery! You will prolly laugh your lungs and stomach out while watching.

And so after the team was formed, they began their conspiracy to rob Shaw’s apartment where they suspected the money were all kept inside.

One of my favourite scenes from Tower Heist came from the scene where by one of them (need to search for his name and exact lines) sped off on an empty truck (supposed to load Shaw’s expensive car). He was chased by the police and finally stopped his speeding when the police surrounded him. The police asked him why he was speeding, he replied he was planning to commit suicide but got chased by them so he increased his speed to  avoid being stopped from committing suicide!! That’s a crappy but innovative excuse!

I shan’t reveal to you what the ending was, you should really go watch it!

Listen to their words and it is going to be a relaxing movie session for you.

This movie doesn’t require a lot of thinking and you can be assured you won’t be walking out of the cinema with question marks.

I got selected by OMY to attend Eco Music Challenge Showcase, held at Timbre @Substation.

Eco Music Challenge is an online song-writing competition organised by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for talented and passionate individuals to express their appreciation and support for our beautiful environment through music. It’s all about bringing the awareness to protect and save our Mother Earth, and to keep our environment GREEN.

Just last year, Eco Music Challenge had its 1st season and had many good entries which were submitted.

And now, Eco Music Challenge is back with its Season 2!!

The prizes for top 10 finalists are fantastic!

There is cash to be won! $$$$$$$$$$$

The top 10 finalists will also go through a mentorship programme! This means they get to be taught by famous teachers!

Alrighty, back to my evening at Timbre.

Timbre is like a pefect placefor talented singers to perform to the public!

Other than the ‘live’ performance, there were quizes (related to environment topics) along the way.

My friend Yvonne was picked to go up the stage!

Jill-Marie Thomas, the winner of OMG! her voice was really good!

 

Notice the girl on the Eco Music Challenge Poster? She was at the event performing too!

 

With the individual’s nice clear voices, meaningful lyrics on how to protect our Mother Earth, and the soothing tunes, the songs were able to express the hopes and wishes we have for this earth.

While listening to the nice vocals, we were also served with yummy food and good drinks!

It was an enjoying night, listening to the nice singing voices from the Eco Music Challenge Season 1 finalists.

[Movie Review] FOREVER 《我爱你爱你爱你》

Forever 《我爱你爱你爱你》 was released in SG on 3 March 2011.

Forever （我愛你愛你愛你）is the latest movie by Singapore director Wee Li Lin,

starring Mo Tzu Yi from Taiwan as well as Singapore’s Joanna Dong and Sarah Ng Li-Wen.

For the benefit of non-chinese, Forever 《我爱你爱你爱你》 means "I love you I love you I love you".

Forever is basically a romance movie with some laughter and touching scenes.

In Forever, there is a scene where by Joey (starring Joanna Dong) who called up the man whom she fell in love with, Gin ( Starring Mo Tzu Yi).
The moment when Gin picked up the phone, Joey chanted "I LOVE YOU" nonstop, repeatedly to Gin.
Gin had a big scare when he heard that, he had no idea that Joey was his secret admirer.

The beginning of the movie was almost real to me,
I had thought Gin & Joey were really a pair of lovely couple who took the video for W.E.D.

But turned out i was wrong…. O.O

Joey had a childhood dream.
She was a flower girl when young and since then, she dreamed to find her Mr.Perfect and marry to him.
Inorder to find her Mr Perfect, she held a job at Wedding Education Dept (W.E.D).

At one of the campaigns to promote marriage,
Gin and Joey met each other during their video shoot for W.E.D.
From then on Joey fell in love with Gin.
It was a one-sided love affair.
Gin had never loved Joey.

Despite Gin was attached, Joey never gave up and tried to convince Gin about her love for him.

She’s very persistent and and brave i would say.

I mean, not many girls will be bold enough to chase after a guy when she knows the guy hasn’t give her anything or promises at all. Somemore, he’s attached!

As the movie goes on, the truth came.
Joey was actually mentally sicked.

I was stunned when i saw how she tried to "preserve" whatever items which were
being used in her previous video shoot with Gin!

Keeping momentos during dates is nothing unusual,
but to the extent of preserving the glass of wine is definitely not right to me!

Scary can!

Gin, who was stunned by her acts, never looked down at her at all.

But because of her persistent love for Gin, while trying to convince Gin that she is the one,
Joey managed to find her old true self back to life.

For Gin, he was not accepted by his fiancee’s dad who looked down to him because he was just a music teacher.

His fiancee had never notice much about his music, all she wanted was his companion.
Whereas for Joey, she was talented in her singing and lyrics.
She could easily fill up lyrics of the music which was composed by Gin.

While being in love with Gin, Joey managed to recover from her persistent mental illness about falling in love.

And Gin began to realize Joey was the one for him.

It was a touching scene when Joey left the mental hospital (she no longer needed anymore treatment)
and Gin was waiting for her outside the hospital.

[Review] The Haunted House Project

Attended the preview screening at Shaw Balestier.

Moi first time there and was glad the seats were quite comfy.

The Plot

Over the course of 42 years, 6 went missing, 8 had accidents and 11 were murdered!

Three haunted house club members and three camera crew decide to look into this infamously haunted house, known to be possessed by real ghosts. Ignoring all signs from the other world, they enter this haunted house and disappear without a trace. A video footage of what they shot during their visit was since recovered, which may reveal why and how they disappeared.

 

Review

 

It just like another Blair witch project flick with ordinary people going through the rumored haunted house located in the suburb area of Korea with villagers of older generations living in the town.

 

With only a couple of genuine surprises in the whole movie, but still it was a disappointment as the scenes were not as ‘scary’ as anticipated.

 

 The best part about the movie is that the part that you dunno "when the scary part is going to happen and when the silence part is going to end".
It’s just like taking a video camera and brings you into a horror world to explore the real things which you never see before.

 

Overall the movie did not really bring the horrifying sight of the house and the story plot was empty and it could be better.

Quite abit of scenes which were not very well-explained, or maybe I couldn’t figure out why.

[Review] Megamind (in 3D)

Together with other bloggers, I attended the movie, Megamind (in 3D) gala premiere,
held at the Grand Cathay Theatre.

THE LAST EXORCISM – Arh-Ooooo!

Who is a die-hard fan of horror movie?

Well, I’m one uber BIG die-hard fan!

Since young I’ve always love to watch all kinds of horror movies!

From Chinese Vampire, those hop hop kind,
to Zombies and Spirits in the big screen!

Horror movies are meant to watch in quiet dark spacious hall,
the best will be one seat with no one sitting beside AND behind you!

Not sure if you belong to me era.. about 10 years ago, just right after Plaza Sing had finished the renovation, the last row of the cinema hall were ALWAYS empty!

I didn’t know why though.

But that was like 10 years ago lah!

And that made Plaza Sing of my fave halls to watch horror movies!

Another spooky hall I recommend will be Sembawang SC.
Watch it on weekdays, you’ll probably only find yourself and a less than 10 peeps watching a horror show!

Anyway, I’ve been watching quite abit of horror shows this year, and 80% of them were disappointing.
I couldn’t got enough scare!

So many times I was anticipating for the horror scene to come, but ended up,
it came in a flash and before i could jumped off my seat, the thrill was gone. So terrible!
And some got me crying, not because of the scare, but because of the touching scenes!

Can you imagine my disappointment in watching horror movie?
Supposed to scare myself and ended up crying because I was so touched by the plot. =.=

Finally had a horror movie appearing in 3D and I was looking forward to it!
BUT I was disappointed again, the 3D CGI didn’t really bring out the SCARE infront of me.

Just when I am craving for MORE horror movies, THE LAST EXORCISM is coming!!

The word “Exorcism” reminds me of “Exercise Horror”!

Not to be missed!

To make the atmosphere even more better, how about watching The Last Exorcism in Halloween costumes in the movie hall?

Sounds so cool eh!

Imagine during the shocking scenes, just when you want to turn your eyes away from the screen,
to the left is a vampire with blood dripping from his lips, to the right is Sadako?
