#Review# Sunplay Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk SPF50 PA+++

Tried out another sunblock from Sunplay recently.

Sunplay Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk comes with SPF50 PA+++, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, oil-free, and colour-free. It is also water proof and sweat proof.

The small opening ensures no spillage and no worries on pouring out excess amount.

Unlike most sunblock that comes in creamy texture, Sunplay Skin Aqua is like a lotion, comes in light watery texture. Contains Collagen and Pro Vitamin B5 to maintain skin’s firmness and elasticity.

Give the bottle a few shakes before use, and pour out the appropriate amount needed for face and/or body.

Absorption is fast and it leaves my skin a velvety finish. There is not a single bit greasiness or stickiness at all. I use it like a makeup base because the velvety finish makes makeup application very smooth.

My skin feels smooth and soft immediately after use. Because of the Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) content, my skin feels radiant and hydrated for up to 8 hours! All thanks to the patented Solarex 3-in-1 technology with 3 comprehensive levels of UV protection.

In summary, Sunplay Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk is a multi-purpose sunblock.

  • Provides long-lasting sunblock coverage because of Solarex-3 formula.
  • Helps in delaying anti-aging with the help of collagen and Pro Vitamin B5.
  • Suitable to be used on face and body, and also as a makeup base.
  • Supplies moisture to the skin with SHA content, keeping the skin hydrated and supple.

#Review# Acnes Medicated Skincare

Ever been in a situation where you need immediate attention to get rid of that painful bump on the skin?

I am referring to mini breakouts, pimple and acnes!

I do recommend Acnes Medicated Skincare from Mentholatum. My bf and myself have tried them a year ago and it’s not bad in getting rid of those irritating bumps.

There’s this twin pack which has been launched for quite some time, consists of a creamy facial wash and a sealing gel for acne-prone skin.

I will say the creamy facial wash is just like a maintenance, to be used regularly, while the sealing gel acts like an emergency first aider to fix those bumps.

Mentholatum Acnes Sealing Jell

Do not try to tear off the silver seal. What we need is just a small amount for application, tearing off the silver seal will end up dispensing excess gel, causing wastage.

Instead, turn the cap and twist onto the silver seal. The cap will poke into the seal to allow a small opening for dispensing.

I normally use it after squeezing out (though not recommended) the pimples and dirt if the pimples are small. I’ll then apply the sealing jell on the affected area and leave it on overnight. It helps to kill the bacteria from deep inside of pores.

For acnes, I don’t squeeze unless it’s almost fully ripen. Usually I will dab over the acnes spot a few times a day. It takes a few days for the acne to be subsided.

Mentholatum Acnes Sealing Jell basically acts as a medical care for pimples and acnes. It’s not about squeezing the bumps.

Mentholatum Acnes Creamy Wash

It’s basically a facial wash, helps to remove excess oil, dirt and impurities. Our skin tends to product natural oil sebum, but if there’s an excess in the production, acnes and pimples start to form. Regular use of a proper facial helps keep acnes at bay.

It contains Vitamin C to retain skin’s moisture, keeping it soft and moisturized after cleansing.

Also contains Vitamin E (anti-oxidant), to maintain skin’s elasticity.

Just need to lather the creamy wash with water and massage gently onto face, followed by a rinse.

Very easy to lather. My dry surface cheeks don’t feel dry after cleansing. Skin feels clean and moisturized.

Pricing and Availability

Mentholatum Acnes Sealing Jell is retailing at S$8.90.

Mentholatum Acnes Creamy Wash is retailing at S$6.90.

Available at pharmacies and convenient stores.

#Review# Mentholatum Lip Pure series

Mentholatum Lip Pure series have recently launched in 3 variants.

  • Orange
  • Fragrance-free
  • Honey Lemon

I get to try out 2 flavours this week, thanks to the sponsorship from Mentholatum!

Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip Balm in Fragrance-free

Heard of Beeswax? It’s very commonly used in the making of lip balm. Mentholatum uses a gentle beeswax formulation in the lipcare products, and this makes gliding the lip balm very easy and smooth.

Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip balm in fragrance-free is formulated with 100% food-grade ingredients to protect, sooth and soften the lips.

Shea butter oil, almond oil, aloe extract, jojoba oil are the natural plant ingredients which are used to provide deep moisturization to the lips.

Vitamin E and grape seed oil are also included because of their antioxidant properties to keep the lips healthy and looking youthful.

But the packaging isn’t very attractive to me. Simple, plain, in white, with a cap. This is a fragrance-free, no adding of preservatives and colorants lip balm, so I guess this explains the plain and simple packaging.

Application is very smooth on my lips. My lips don’t really feel very sticky. Infact the lip balm feels very light on my lips. Perhaps a little greasy feel from the moisturizing ingredients.

Moisturizing level is average, suitable for SG weather. It helps to keep my lips moisturized for about 4 hours in air-conditioned environment.

Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip Gel in Honey Lemon

The 2nd flavour which I get to try has a different texture from the fragrance-free lip balm. It’s in gel, with honey lemon taste!

The Mentholatum Lip Pure Honey Lemon lip gel! I feel it looks like a lipgloss to me!

In terms of ingredients, it’s more or less the same as Mentholatum Lip Pure Lip balm in fragrance-free, where everything is natural and all about conditioning the lips. And because it has the gentle beeswax formulation with 100% food grade ingredients, it is very gentle even on sensitive skin.

Application is just as easy as applying a colourless lipgloss. No worries about smudging and uneven layers on the lips.

Despite the lip gel comes in pale yellow, it’s basically sheer on my lips.

Maybe it’s the shine, it gives me the perception that my lips are more moisturized when using the lip gel (Honey Lemon) than lip balm (Fragrance-free).

I feel like having lipgloss on my lips! I guess if you are a lip shine lover who is looking at natural ingredients in lipcare products, Mentholatum Lip Pure Honey Lemon lip gel maybe a good choice for you.

Mentholatum Lip Pure retails at S$7.90 each at Watsons, Guardians.

#Review# Sunplay Watery Cool Series

Following my review on Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 PA +++, here’s another sunblock review from Sunplay Watery Cool Series,

  • Watery Cool SPF 65 PA +++
  • Watery Cool Body Mist  SPF 75 PA +++

Sunplay Watery Cool SPF 65 PA +++ is pretty similar to Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 PA +++, comes with the patented Solarex 3-in-3 technology:

  1. High long-lasting protection from UVA and UVB rays by reflecting UV rays from the skin
  2. Contains anti-aging ingredients to protect the skin against wrinkles and brown spots.
  3. Contains Hyaluronic Acid which is well known for providing and locking up the moisture on the skin, preventing moisture loss.

Loves its cute bottle which has a shape close to water droplet. Its well-capped packaging ensures no leakage.

Pouring out the sunscreen is easy, I do not have to worry about excess amount being poured because of the small opening tip.

In terms of texture, Sunplay Watery Cool SPF 65 is the same as Sunplay Super Block SPF 130.

Spreading is easy. As I spread, the sunscreen becomes transparent, leaving no white cast on my skin. My skin feel silky smooth and clear.

The difference between Sunplay Watery Cool SPF 65 and Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 is, the former contains menthol which makes the skin feeling cool and refreshing under the sun. My skin smells like menthol during application! :)

Sunplay Watery Cool  SPF 65 PA +++  is suitable to be used on face and body.

Sunplay has previously launched a UV mist with SPF 80 PA ++ which I find it so easy to use without staining my hands.

This time, they added a similar product to the Watery Cool series, Sunplay Watery Cool Body Mist SPF 75 PA +++. The difference is the cooling sensation  the new product gives to the body skin during application.

It leaves this menthol minty feel on my skin without making my skin feeling greasy and sticky.

Comes with a nozzle spray, easy to spray on anytime under the sun. This is the sunscreen which keeps my skin cool and protected with its SPF 75 PA +++ and its patented Solarex 3-in-1 technology.

How much to spray depends on individual preferences. I personally give one spray on each area, and spray again as and when I like.

Overall, Sunplay products provide long-lasting high protection for outdoor activities and water sports, and are retailing at affordable prices.

#Review# Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 PA +++

Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 is not a new product to me. I have ever reviewed this sunblock one year ago. Blogpost can be found HERE.

This time, Mentholatum has reformulated its Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 with New Patented Solarex-3 Technology. It’s a new patented technology which fights against 3 signs of sun damage:

  • Sunburn
  • Skin Aging
  • Dryness

Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 with New Patented Solarex-3 Technology gives high protection against sunburn. It has this UV Reflectant Technology that acts like a mirror to reflect UVA and UVB from your skin. It also has high photo stability under long hours.

Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 is formulated with two anti-aging ingredients which help to fight against skin aging. With this protection, brown spots, fine lines are minimized.

Heard of sunblock that contains Hyaluronic Acid? Mentholatum newly formulated Sunplay Super Block SPF 130 has! Hyaluronic Acid has been well-known for its high hydration level. It is said that it is able to lock up high moisture, keeping the skin moisturized and supple.

I am recently sponsored with this Sunplay Super Block SPF 130.

Tried it today and I am quite happy with its light and non-sticky texture.

A few shakes are required before application. The sunblock is pretty watery and that makes spreading very easy. Initially I have thought it would leave a white cast on my skin but it turned out not at all. Infact my skin felt smooth and had got this silky finish, like a layer of moisture on the skin’s surface.

It’s waterproof, splashing water on the applied skin doesn’t remove the silky finish, so I guess the sunblock protection layer has pretty good waterproof properties.

What I like the most is its high SPF 130 PA +++. Not very easy to find a sunblock with high SPF without causing greasiness to the skin. :)

#Review# Mentholatum Organic Lip Balm

Received a Lip Balm sponsorship from Mentholatum Lip Ice (SG) and The Sample Store.

Japan’s Number 1 Lipcare brand, Mentholatum LipIce, has launched a new organic lipbalm range!

Available in 2 flavours:

  • Raspberry & Strawberry
  • Lavender & Orange

Based on the name “organic”, I am already having the perception that only organic ingredients are used in the formula. These organic ingredients are sourced from internationally renowned organic farms!

Some key organic ingredients:

  • African organic shea butter (well-known for moisturizing)
  • Splanish organic oil (anti-aging)
  • Argentinean organic jojoba oil (to provide long-lasting hydration to the lips)
  • Columbian organic coconut oil (soften the lips)

Both lip balm colours and textures are exactly the same. It’s only the scent that differs.

Here’s a quick reviews on the two!

Raspberry & Strawberry

Strawberry! Sounds yummy? But I don’t seem to taste/smell much of the strawberry scent from this lip balm. No raspberry as well. But there’s a light sweet fruity scent with a bit of the kind of scent (not sure what’s that called, similar to a mixture of essential oils) one will smell when entering a spa salon.

It’s a lip balm, so do not expect glossy shine or wetness on the lips ya. What I experience is smooth and moisturizing results on my lips which are dry at almost 80% of the time.

Sometimes one hatred with lipgloss is, when the wind blows, 1 or 2 strands of hair tend to stick to the glossy lips. But with lip balm, the lips feel so light that one will really feel there’s nothing on the lips, and hair will never get “glued” to the lips.

Long term using helps to reduce the chances of dry chapped lips. Infact the lips will be well-nourished and stay protected from harsh environment.

Lavender & Orange

Right after applying, I smell the scent of Lavender, reminds me of the same scent at spa salons.

Gliding the lip balm on my lip is easy and smooth. I can really feel the soothing on my lips which tend to crack easily.

In my opinion, Mentholatum organic lip balm in lavender and orange can be used when lips crack. It helps to repair dry chapped lips and minimize the appearance of fine lines with Vitamin E. Its lavender scent helps to soothe the lips too.

Mentholatum Organic Lip Balm comes with the highest eco-cert accreditation!

Point number 1, it is free from artificial chemicals, colorants and preservatives.

Point number 2, it is healthy, safe and gentle for every pair of lips, even the sensitive ones!

Point number 3, its packaging is recyclable and biodegradable.

In short, it’s 100% natural origin, and with of 97.84% from organic farming!

Get Confidence with Clear Skin, with Acnes Medicated Skincare

Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Skincare is the number 1 Antibacterial Skin Care Brand in Japan. It is a proven effective Medicated Skin Care, targeted for teenagers and young adults who are facing skin issue on acne.

Acne breakouts due to overproduction in oil sebum on the face. During Adolescences stage (puberty), the hormones in the young people are pretty active, and the skin tends produce alot of oil sebum onto the skin’s surface.

High production of oil sebum will mean high chances of breaking out from acnes and pimples.

With so much oil sebums and dirts from the surrounding air, acnes and pimples are easily formed. Without proper care, acnes and pimples may form scar on the face. This is going to affect the confidence level in every individual.

Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Skincare has a suitable Acne Skincare regimen can help to solve these acne/pimple problems, bringing back the confidence level to the young people!

When comes to acne, last minute acne-care is not going to help much, even if it helps, the results may take a long time to reveal.

For those with acne-prone skin, regular acne-care is strongly recommended. A proper acne skincare regimen will include a cleanser, toner and a moisturizer. on top of that, keeping a acne gel at all times to further “kill” or prevent any “upcoming” acne.

Thanks to The Sample Store and Mentholatum, I am sponsored a twin pack which consists of a cleanser and an acne gel to try out.

Inside this pack are 1 tube Sealing Gel and 1tube  Creamy Wash, both are specially medicated skincare, targeting on acne and oily skin.

A must-have item to combat acne, will be the cleanser!

This is the Creamy Wash from the Acnes Skincare range.

Leakage-proof packaging, messy-free when squeezing out the cleanser.

I don’t feel it as a creamy wash, it’s somewhere between creamy and gel-like texture. Quite similar to those foam cleanser texture, but it is not as soft as that. Very easy to lather.

Apply  moderate amount on damped palms, follow by some lathering on the face. I have tried it, the cleanser works well on dry face!

Do not be overwhelmed by my photo below which shows the foams created during lathering. The white patch on my skin is not bump or roughness, it is the foam created during lathering.

The foams are not alot as compared to most foaming cleanser. This is important because some foaming cleansers may dry up the skin.

Yes, for acne-prone/oily skin, they need the foaming cleanser to remove the oil and dirts, but remember, we also won’t want our skin to be dried up after a long-term use. This is why I feel Creamy Wash is “killing two birds with one stone”. It acts like a foam cleanser but at the same time it is less harsh to the skin by not drying it too much.

In terms of fragrance, yes, I do smell something from this cleanser. But it’s neither floral not sweet scent. It’s just something that smells cooling, refreshing and light. No scent of medication at all.

After lathering, rinsing the face is the next step of course! I enjoy my rinsing session the most! Just a few splashes of water onto my foamy face, the foams and soapy feel are gone!

My face feels fresh and clean, smooth and soft after cleansing it with Creamy Wash.

Next, it is this ACNES medicated Sealing Gel.

Comes in a very slim tube, with tightening cap to prevent leakage.

Squeeze out the appropriate amount and apply on the targeted area.

Massage around the acne area and follow by some dabbing to ensure the sealing gel has been absorbed into the skin.

It leaves a matte and non-sticky finish on the target area, skin feels a cooling sensation.

The application area feels good! Just one-time application, it is not enough to diminish the acne. Gota apply regularly till the acne has subsided.

For those who have serious acne-prone skin, Acnes Medicated Skincare has a full skincare range to help you prevent & clear your pimples!
Seems to me that in terms of drugstore brands,Mentholatum Acne Skincare is the only one with such full range of products targeting on acne! There’s even a clay mask inside the range?!

Skin Protection with SUNPLAY!

Sunplay has a wide range of skincare products specially cater to protect the skin from the harmful sunrays. It is the No. 1 in the sales quantity of sunscreen products in Japan.

Sunplay SPF80 PA++ UV Spray was recently launched in SG. I am sponsored a bottle by The Sample Store.

It is a body body and facial mist sunblock, hassle-free to use.

To use on body:

Hold the sun spray mist 6-8 inches away from the body and start pressing the nozzle. After that, leave it on to dry, or pat all over the body skin to ensure it is evenly applied.

What come out from the mist are just clear droplets which are on my skin.
I patted till my skin turns dry. It is non-oily but leaves a kind of silky feel on my skin. Sunplay SPF80 PA++ UV Spray contains a nice citrus scent, keeping my body fresh and smells nice even if I am under the hot sun.

To use on face:

Spray the mist onto palm and pat evenly on the face.

The high SPF80 PA++ protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.
Incase you aren’t aware, UVA causes wrinkles and accelerates skin-aging, whereas UVB is the one which causes the skin to suffer from sun-burnt.

Another goodness in Sunplay SPF80 PA++ UV Spray is  that it is waterproof and sweatproof, suitable for all types outdoor activities. But if it’s water sports, reapplication is required to ensure maximum protection and minimum skin damage.

The 2nd sunscreen product which I am sponsored is Sunplay Super Block SPF130 PA+++. This is the highest available UVA & UVB Protection by SUNPLAY. It is also suitable to use on face and body.

It is a must to shake the cute bottle before use. It feels like applying lotion on my skin. Comes in watery-texture, light on my skin, leaves a silky layer on my skin, not sure if it’s because I have applied too much, my skin feels greasy.

Again, I am not sure if it is because of the amount which I have applied, be it on my face or body, Sunplay Super Block leaves a white cast on my skin. :(

I will have to apply in a very thin layer inorder to minimize this white cast.

I confirm Sunplay Super Block is water-resistant! My skin still feels greasy despite rinsing with water. It is like I can still feel a layer of the product on my skin after rinsing, definitely suitable for long hours of water sports and require less frequent reapplication!

Other properties of Sunplay Super Block are:

[1] Efficient to reflect UV rays
[2]Prevent Sunburn and premature aging
[3] Non-comedogenic
[4] Dermatologist tested

Retail Price of Sunplay Super Block SPF130 PA+++ is SGD17.20.
Available in most watsons stores and Guardian Outlets.
